# What is Vow?

VOW is a free floating, ERC777 compliant token issued on the Ethereum blockchain. It can be traded peer-to-peer or on supporting crypto exchanges. The initial supply of VOW was 1,142,857,142 tokens and these were issued by Vow Limited. 

Because VOW tokens are being burned over time, according to demand, there are currently just over 824m VOW left. 

The VOW Token is most accurately described as an enabler for minting a second type of token called Voucher (v)currencies.
